Hyperlink to Windchill URL - converts # to %20-%20

Recently a user pasted a URL to a Windchill project document in an email - worked ok.  Later, pasted the same to a Word document - link no longer worked.  Started investigating.  Lots of articles on the web about this. We have hundreds - maybe thousands - of Word documents with hyperlinks in them to Windchill documents.  With IE 11 and Word 2010 or 2013 none of them work now. Anyone experience this? Not a solution, but I did see this article from PTC come through recently:  CS220047

CS138339 is also interesting since it references the hash character.

Mike,

We have at least one user that has seen this, or similar,  behavior.

Mike,

We have also seen this with SharePoint and PDF's created from Word 2013 documents.

I have experienced the same problem with Lync and Skype for Business. Initially with Lync, Microsoft was changing the characters in the URL when pasted into a chat window. IT could not figure out how to prevent the URL changes, so I started using Cutyfox URL Shortener for Firefox and Shareaholic for Chrome to always using the Google URL shortener service, but you can configure them to use just about any service. That resolved my problem with IM tools, but I have not experienced this problem with Office applications.
