Thanks, Luc. My post was about fractional powers of s, transmission line math.

I am using the latest HP Envy laptop and Win11. I normally just use a partial fraction expansion, but i decides to try a separate calculation to look at residues which needed integer powers.

Prime8 quotient rationalization

I am in the process of writing an M050 worksheet, a patent disclosure, into Prime8. Quotient numerator and denominator are usually power series in root(s). In M050, simplify gives me a quotient in integral power of the complex variable, (s). Nothing seems to work in Prime8. This is so basic; it is a nuisance. I must be doing something wrong.

The question may be related to this thread

https://community.ptc.com/t5/Mathcad/Mathcad-15M050-and-Prime8-Series-solutions-differences/m-p/792850#M200864

But a streamlined, simpler example sure would be helpful.

I am totally mystified! I copied my Prime8 program to a renamed version so that I could modify it for general viewing

and the quotient problem vanished! I had been living with this for several days - beats me!
