I have four subtypes that we have created for WTPart. The Problem is that Windchill does not allow you to change subtypes using any update task or update API.any help would be appreciated.

I'm not aware of any method from PTC but it may be there. Vaguely recall something from PTC that determines the required SQL and the recommendation to execute the change directly against the database.

We have an unsupported customization executed via Windchill shell. We've used it for this purpose 1000's of times, thru Windchill 8.0, 9.0, 9.1 and now 10.1 w/o problem - primarily for WTDoc subtypes but also for WTParts.

We can put you in touch with those who originally supplied the customization if you like.
