Active or inactive window

I'm working about 11 years with Creo/ProE but new users of Creo all ask why you have to activate the window, the answer to this question I don't have.

Why isn't it like all other windows programs that the window that is on top is the active window? I can't think of a situation that you want to change something on a window you can't see.

I think it's a thing that is something left from the DOS/UNIX time where this was an issue but nowadays this should not be a manual thing if you ask me.

Am I missing something or is it just the way it is and everybody (including me) uses automatically CTRL+A?

There is a config option in Creo 3:

New config.pro option in Creo Parametric 3.0
Set activate_window_automatically to yes

We tested this option, seems to work but not flawless because sometimes you still have to activate the window manually.

But it's better than always manual activation so thank you for your information!

I routinely have the active window on my main monitor and a second window on the second monitor showing an older version of the part or a similar part that I want to reference.  Being able to spin and zoom in the reference window without getting out of a sketch or feature in the main window is handy.  Not sure if or how that works if the config option mentioned is set.

I do the same but in most cases with the Creo viewer on the side screen. Does not work in all cases (when you want to compare relations for example) but it prevents me from adding models to my workspace.
