I have assemblies with lots of representations. I often need to go back and add something but I only need it in one of the representations but it adds it to all the representations. I have tried activating the specific representation and performing the addition but it still adds to all. Then I have to go and edit all the other representations removing the newly added component which can waste a significant amount of time. Thanks!
Not 100% positive, but this works for me.
I believe the simplified rep needs to be setup with the top level set to exclude, then turn on needed parts. I tried it in an assembly buy making a couple Simplified Reps, activating one, adding a part, saving the rep, and switching to the other rep. The added part was not part of the other rep.
Kdrith thanks for examining my issue.
I am not having a problem making simplified representations. Often I need to assemble additional parts after the simplified representations are made in only one of the simplified representations or none of the simplified representations. Currently what happens is the newly assembled part(s) are put into EVERY existing simplified representation and then I have to edit them out of each rep one at a time except the rep that hat the new part(s) are needed for. In my current assembly I have 20 simplified reps....
So for your assembly can you add a new part and have it only be in one or none of the simplified reps?
If the Simplified reps are set up as I indicated, you can activate a specific rep and add a part to that rep only (and the master rep of course).
Hi @gmihalicz
As of now, it is not possible to assemble a component to a specific Simp rep only,

I hope this will help.
I am using Creo 7.0.10.0, and I am able to add to a simplified rep without it showing up in other simplified reps if they are created with the top level set to Exclude. If the other simplified rep has the top level set to Master Rep, anything added will show up.

Thanks for your reply. It doesn't really help but at least I know it isn't possible. As an alternate solution I guess there is no way to add a new part to the master representation and not to any of the simplified reps either?
As @kdirth said, there is. You need to setup your simplified representations with the top assembly excluded and then only turn on the components you need for each rep. Then when you add new components they are automatically excluded from all of the reps because they follow the derived exclude rule.
