BMX to package boxes

Hi All

I have a problem which I think could be resolved with BMX but having never used it I thought I would see what you all think.

We are trying to package a few hundred cardboard boxes within the smallest volume for shipping overseas. The boxes are of different dimensions but all 6 sided (square / rectangle) great for a family table.

Obviously the boxes can be stacked in 3 different orientations and different permutations to fill the volume, also some can only be placed in certain orientations due to contents - For some reason 3D tetras springs to mind. The engineer is manually placing each box in an assembly until he gets it right but to me this is working harder not smarter.

As I said I have never used BMX before so wonder if tis sort of thing can be done

Thanks

Dave

Hi David...

You're looking at the age-old "bin stacking" problem. Google "bin stacking". I do not think BMX can handle this. There are some companies that make special software applications for this. Here's one called LogenSolutions

Thanks...
