CSYS_MM_PART_DEF Issue

Hello,

I made a part using Creo's Sheet metal with image below.

When I create an STL file and send it to our 3D printer, it makes it under millimeter only. Typically, it always ask if i want to convert to inches. When i load it into the 3D printer, it comes out super tiny and small. the problem here isn't the 3D printer, but the part itself.

Even though i change the properties to inches/lbm/seconds. it still causes the same issue

I have a big feeling it has something to do with this axis below causing this issue:

If i build it from a solid model, it doesn't have this issue. I need to build this part under sheet metal, because it will become a sheet metal.

Please help.

Hi,

my suggestion:

  • open original model, which has set mm as lenght units
  • measure some distance in the model, for example length of some edge
  • convert length units to inch

  • measure the same distance
  • compare two measurements ... what is the result ?

Hello,

I've came to realize it maybe be the template that's setup; I am unsure. when changed also, it doesn't allow it. its only when i create in sheet metal. I am clueless as of now.

Post a test model here for review. There are many things that might cause the issue you are describing. If you are not able to post a model here, then open a case with PTC support.

NOTE - The part i created below is mm/g/sec

1. I create a basic square at H266.70mm(10.50") X W101.70(4.00") X T1.52(0.06"). 

2. After, I convert it to inches/lbm/seconds.

Results it would shrink the size of the square.

I've also come to realize. My Creo isn't converting the units. 

When i create the part, Standard is in mm. I would convert it to inches and start building a basic square. When i dimension it as a "mm" rather inches (even though i already converted the part to inches), it would come out correct in the 3D printer. this is actually really odd. Has anyone ever experience this?

your reply is related to sheetmetal part which does not contain any solid geometry. In this case you:

  • create new part in mm
  • change model length units to inch
    • Note: the model does not contain any dimension
  • add solid geometry ... all dimensions use inch as length unit

 

Your previous reply is related to sheetmetal part which does contain some solid geometry. In this case you:

  • create new part in mm
  • add solid geometry ... all dimensions use mm as length unit
  • change model length units to inch
  • I guess your problem is related to Custom system of units

 

Please do following test:

  • create new sheetmetal part
    • do not use your template
    • use PTC template named mmns_part_sheetmetal_abs
  • add solid geometry ... all dimensions use mm as length unit
  • change model length units to inch
    • do not use your Custom system of units
    • use PTC system of units named inch lbm Second (Creo Parametric Default)
    • use Convert option
  • apply Regenerate
  • apply Refit
  • show model dimensions

If my test produces correct model, then the problem is related to your Custom system of units.

 

SUGGESTION: Upload your start model. This enable me to use it in my test.
