Constraints for a roller to follow a curved path in a cylinder.

Constraints for a roller to follow a curved path in a cylinder.

Hi all,

I'm trying to simulate a mechanism on Creo Parametrics where a roller has to follow a slot cut through on a cylinder surface as shown in the Image below. The shaft connected with the roller has to translate downwards when the roller moves along the slot. I don't know what kind of constraints I need to apply for that to happen. My final aim is to find out the forces acting on the roller while it moves along the curved path. Need help on simulating this. Can anyone help me on that?

Make a datum curve reference and put a point in the handle part that correlates to the curve.

In other words, you can make the handle follow a "curve" using constraints.

Your curve would likely be the centerline of the slot projected onto a cylinder.

The roller is supported on the slot in the cylinder. Could I find out the forces acting on the roller when I make this kind of an arrangement?

Make a point of the track rollers

Tracking point is located at the center point of the roller.

Always track points will go through the slot.

When you upload your data to create a mechanism it can give redemption.
