Is CP4 compliant to ASME Y14.6 regarding the display of cosmetic threads ("simplified representation of threads")? See attached.
A co-worker is really annoyed that the edges of the cosmetic thread's cylinder are displayed on drawings. There's no geometry there that would require a line in a drawing otherwise.
We referred to ASME Y14.6 for guidance. Their drafters played a little fast-and-loose, so it wasn't helpful (who designs a chamfer or counter-sink to end exactly at the major/minor diameters, anyhow?).
We messed around a little with drawings options to try to keep the hidden line representing the minor diameter, but eliminate the edges of the cylinder. In other words, we want only the silhouette of the cylinder surface to be visible, not the projections of the circular edges. Short of erasing those edges or doing other silly things, we couldn't figure it out.
This wasn't helpful, either; it applies to sections, but the techniques aren't working for "no section" views.
Hi,
you can create revolved surface feature instead of cosmetic thread feature and then erase unwanted lines in drawing using Edge Display command. See uploaded part+drawing created in CR2.
