Hi,
I'm just facing a problem with creating of a BOM balloon from existing repeat region. I have a model (assembly) with steel profiles. Many of profiles have the same dimensions and parameters, but the different names.
E.g. : Name 987654321_1 Description Flat Bar EN 10058 - 60 x 20 x 560 Material 1.0038/S235JR
Name 987654321_2 Description Flat Bar EN 10058 - 60 x 20 x 560 Material 1.0038/S235JR
These profiles have the same position and quantity is 2. If I want to create a BOM balloon then I am able to create balloon only for one of them and system does not allow me to create the BOM balloon with the same position number for the second item.
Does anybody know if there's a official solution? Have you ever met this kind of problem?
Many thanks.
Tomas

Hi,
I think that you are using so called "improper technique". That means you created repeat region which combines two different models (because they have different names - r987444441-pan-11.prt, r987444441-pan-12.prt) into one repeat region row. I am almost sure that BOM balloon with specific number can be attached to instances of the same model name, only.
I think the only quick solution is to create Balloon Note (unfortunately it is not parametric).

Hi,
just guessing ... can you create REF BOM Balloon ?

Hi,
unfortunately this is not possible as well.

Hi,
can you upload data (How to Attach a File to a Discussion Reply) for testing purposes ?

Thank you for your answers.
I was guessing the same way. We are gonna avoid using the parts with the same parameters and different names.

there is a split balloon option, if that is what your talking about.. if you have a balloon that has a qty of 2 on it.. and you want another balloon to point to the other part, then you highlight the balloon, click on split balloon, then go place that balloon by clicking on the other component.
I already tried this function. There is an error message "Attachment has to be on assembly member from the same table row. Select again".

Make sure you use the create balloon by component option. It will allow you to create ballons for the second part as well.
Not sure what your mean "create balloon by component option".
I use this functionality:
In my case it doesn't allow me to create balloons for second part with the same position number and with different part name.
It's the one right above where your cursor is pointing at in that picture.
It did not help.
I agree with Martin. Creo will not show a balloon for 2 different parts if you've merged the 2 parts in to one row on the BOM table.
