Create a Plane from screen view

Can you create a plane from the screen view? or possibly create a plane from a custom orientation view?

Select Plane button / Select Coordinate System button / Select a coordinate system / Select the Orientation tab / Select Z Normal to Screen (fills in orientation values) / Select OK / Change reference to Through / change Plane to XY / Select OK

You could also leave the Reference at Offset and change Translation to Z.  This would allow you to set the depth of the plane.
