Creo 2: Edit --> Solidify on a plane missing?

Using Creo 2 M090

A trick I learned a long time ago for cutting a part at a plane was to pick a plane, then use Edit --> Solidify. You pick which side of the plane it removes. When it was applicable, it was much faster and more robust than creating an extruded cut to remove the material.

Worked through WF5.

Now using Creo 2. I've selected a datum plane, but the Solidify option is greyed out. What gives?

Never mind. I forgot I was working on a surface model, so there aren't any solids.

Guess my head has already left for the weekend.
