Creo 4.0 freezes everytime I click something
I am new to creo and I need to use Creo for this project.
My version and Creo 4.0 M080. and I have a HP work station with i7-6820 2.70GHz, Quadro M3000M, 16GB ram.
As I was trying to go thru the tutorial, even just trying to create a new sketch on a brand new part, rotating view, changing dimension, etc...it will freeze like 5~10 seconds everytime.
I don't know what's the reason behind of all these freezes, my memory is only used 6gb, CPU is about 30%
I found a similar topic
https://community.ptc.com/t5/Assembly-Design/Creo-4-performance-issues/td-p/577222
but I don't know how to check all these

I believe there is borrow license option somewhere in the C:\PTC\***\Bin folder
I borrowed it and work offline, then it will be smooth

Hi,
the problem can be caused by graphic card drivers. To verify it, please open config.pro file located in text subdirectory if Creo installation and add following option in it.
graphics win32_gdi
Then start Creo and test its behaviour.

Hello Martin,
thanks for the reply, but it doesn't do anything...
but actually, there are 3 config.pro...I only added the command to the one in side Parametric\bin
and you see capture3.jpg, that all I click was a rectangle without anything open in the back...still spin for like 15sec before i can start drawing my rectangle

Hi,
you have to modify config.pro file located in text subdirectory in Creo installation.
Example:
On my PC Creo 4.0 is installed in E:\PTC\Creo4_M100 directory
and config.pro is located in E:\PTC\Creo4_M100\Creo 4.0\M100\Common Files\text directory.

You have to restart creo for the graphics option to take effect.
You could try installing the latest graphics card drivers, just be careful, this could have negative effects on other software you are using.
If neither of these work, try renaming all the config.pro files on your computer so none of them will load (maybe change to x-config.pro). Restart Creo. If this solves the problem, it means something in your settings is causing the problem.

if there are multiple config.pro files at different locations just see if you are making the change suggested by MARK to the correct config.pro (the one which is actually being accessed by PTC CREO 4.0 M080) .

Are you using a 3D Connexion 3D mouse or controller? The software for those devices has been responsible for erratic UI interaction and dramatic slowing down and even crashing of Creo Parametric. If you have one of these devices, disable the software (3D Connexion) and run Creo to test if it is the cause.

hello Tbraxton,
thanks for the reply.
And I don't have any 3D mouse etc. Only a regular wireless mouse and usb keyboard 😞

To those who are curious...We found the root cause...it's because Creo is pinging the license server on every menu click...after we turned of the internet connect, it's actually stop the lag & delay...although this isn't a proper solution..

Hi,
did you find a solution afterwards? For two weeks now i have the same problem. In Flight mode everything works until creo is realizing that the license was lost. When i am not in flight mode every 5 sec it freezes from 30sec up to 2 min. Horrible.
Best Regards,
Niclas

Client systems and server machine will ping each other every few seconds. There will be continuous communication between server and application to see if the application needs the license or should it release back to the server.
Try adding windows firewall exception and see if that helps you resolve the issue. Follow the below link.
