Creo Parametric Cabling Circular References

Creo Parametric Cabling Circular References

I have read most of the articles from the PTC Community on circular references, but none of the typical solutions work.

Like usual, the references keep the cabling harness I am working on from being checked in to Windchill. However, the Reference Viewer doesn't bring up any circular references. Furthermore, if I save a backup locally, no .crc file is generated. My only other option is to manually find out which ones are preventing the harness from being checked in, but as it's the complete harness for a construction vehicle, I am asking for any other possible solution I may not know about.

Without the data set to review it is difficult to determine a root cause. I can think of a couple of things to try.

  1. If you have Modelcheck deployed it can search for circular references.
  2. Activate the regeneration manager and see if that reports anything.

If you have any notebooks (.lay files) declared to any of the models in the harness they will not show up as external refs in the ref viewer.

There are instances of a preferred feature order now creating circular refs. PTC has not documented this so if the above do not bear fruit open a call with PTC and post the results to this thread.

See the post in this thread from @TomU  about this.
