Creo creates snaplines after copy/paste annotations that were on a snapline

The initial unexpected behaviour we noticed was that when we moved annotations on a drawing, those objects suddenly jumped across the drawing, usually to the bottom left corner. It seemed that Creo would snap to snaplines we didn't create. Later we incidentally zoomed in to that corner only to find some very short snaplines actually existed, but nobody knew why they were there so the snaplines were deleted.

After a while, and also on new drawings, the snapping behaviour and those snaplines reappeared.

Today we found that when you copy and paste an annotation (we tested it with a simple note) on the same drawing, the result is as expected. However, when you copy a not that is positioned on a snapline and the paste it, you get those small snaplines in the bottom left corner, and the pasted notes aren't even on those snaplines.

The small snaplines cannot be moved, the length cannot be changed, ...

Creo shouldn't create snaplines when pasting annotations, not even very small ones as they are even harder to find and create a lot of confusion...

Hi,

please report the problem to PTC Support.

Martin Hanák

I don't really see the point in moving this from drawing related issues to 'Assembly Design', as it is only related to drawings. The issue is not related to modeling or assembly operations.

How do I report this to PTC, other than this community ?

Case 14654277 has been opened, thanks for the info !

@StevenDumon

Seems not reproducible... check attached video for steps

Am I missing something?

Hi MaheshSh,

I guess you are missing what we also failed to notice during a long time : the snapline is created outside the format and is really small. I recorded the action myself, see attached file (had to play it in VLC our old MediaPlayer).

During the recording I noticed that the little snapline is already visible during the Paste operation when you select a reference location and the snapline also gets copied to the drawing. Notice that there was no snapline copied, only the note was selected befor the Copy.

I've seen this is the past as well but I'm not currently able to reproduce it with 4.0 M060.  What version and build are you using?  Also, do the newly created, super small snap lines appear in the drawing tree?

This occurs in Creo 3.0 M090, I have no other datecodes for the moment.

The snapline is not visible in the drawing tree...
