Drawing a Imported model

Hi,

I have an imported motor part for which I need to make a drawing showing overall dimensions.
How to append company's default settings to this imported part? I mean, getting all those layers, views, datums etc which usually comes along with a newly created part.

Thanks and regards,

KS Jnanesha

If the model is robust enough, export as a STEP or IGES and re-import
using your standard part file.

Hello Eric Slotty!

Thanks for the quick help/reply.

Sorry, I think I should have mentioned one thing earlier. This imported part is in our company's database since long time which we got from supplier. And, it is in released state. Now to make the drawing we just pulled out the model from intralink. Our product team does not want to make any revisions to the file exception being adding the datums, layers etc as to meet CAD standard.

Thanks and regards,

I use Modelcheck to check for these things and optionally add layers,
parameters, etc...

Two things I don't like about this method.

1) I have not been able automate getting 'default' views (front, top,
right, etc...)

2) Layer definitions created are not 'parametric'. Items are placed on
layers manually, and ModelCheck must be then run periodically to update
entities to layers.

ModelCheck does this and much more.

This will modify the part / drawing though. I don't know if this causes
an issue in PDM for you.
