ECAD/MCAD Data Files

Does anyone remember what EMN and EMP stand for in the two files created for import into ECAD software?

(EMP = Ecad Mcad Profiles?)

I do not know what the file extensions stand for. I do not recall that ever being documented in the IDF spec since inception.

I believe EM is for ECAD/MCAD

N is for neutral

P is for profile

The EMN File contains the PCB-Outline, the Position of the Parts, Positions of Holes and milling, keep out regions and keep in regions.

The EMP file contains the outline and height of the parts.

TBraxton,

Thanks for your quick response. My manger asked the question and it was bothering me. I go back to ProE version 9, but was not sure my answer to him of ECAD-MCAD-Neutral and ECAD-MCAD-Profile was correct. This makes two people that agree. 🙂
