I don't disagree with anything that you've said.
However, for us, it's just not always that simple.
In fact, we work with a vendor who CAN'T accept 3D data at all. They are
literally still in the ACAD world. We send them DXF files of our
drawings, and that's what they work off of. They do great work, and it's
been a great marriage. Is it ideal? No, but it works, and we're not
going to change their culture, so we have to accept it for what it is.
