Edit Definition does not work in a Pattern within an Assembly

Just wondering if anyone else has run into this?

Typically I can change the constraints of a component in a pattern by clicking on the Edit Definition of the 1st instance.  I have one assembly where if I click on the Edit Definition of such a component, nothing happens.  If I delete the pattern, the Edit Definition works fine.  The only explanation I could find online was to check the read only under operations, but there is none.

Weird, right?

Hi @Greg_H

By any chance, is that component is in a group? If yes, ungrouping the pattern may allow redefine.

Will it be possible to share same data?

Thanks.

Wow, yep, that worked (better than deleting the pattern).  Wonder why though?

Because the redefine probably won't work 2 layers down thru the pattern and then into the group.  I agree, it SHOULD work, but...

There a lot of that in CREO I've noticed 😞

One of my favorites is functionality that is turned off because an assembly is in exploded mode. Like, you can't replace components. Never understood that one.
