hello everybody,
can you tell me why if I open a file it retrieves thousand of other files in Workspace?
it appears no external references to me
thanks
Solved! Go to Solution.
If it is an assembly, it needs ALL the parts/sub-assy's in the workspace.
If it is a family table, depending on your settings, it might be bringing all the instances.
If it includes a drawing, the drawing may have an un-used model still in there.
And then, references...as tbraxton mentioned...
maybe a sub-level component of an assembly has an external reference.
You will need to provide more detail on what is going on. Creo and WC versions what data type are you opening and what else is being retrieved.
have you used the global reference viewer to query external refs of the model in question?
Windchill is retrieving them for a reason. Can you elaborate on why you state there are no external refs for the model in question.
we use Creo 3.0 M190 and Windchill 10.2. i'm opening an assembly with Default Exclude Rep, then I set in Master Rep one assembly, open another assembly in another window, then when i switch back to the first assembly it start regenerating
I don't normally work the way you are describing, so I tested it.
I made an empty workspace. In Creo, I just typed in the file name of a large assembly and opened a default exclude rep. When I checked my workspace, the only thing in the workspace was the large assembly, no part, no other assemblies.✔️
I added one random assy as master rep in the assy. I checked the workspace, only thing it downloaded was the parts/assy required for that assy. ✔️
I opened a different assy in creo. I checked the workspace, it only downloaded the files required for that assy. ✔️
In creo, I re-activated the original large assembly i had opened first. It didn't add anything new to the workspace. ❓ I didn't use file open to go back to that assembly, it was still open and I just activated the window. If you use file open and don't specify the rep, it will open the master rep and load all parts.
