I have created and saved a part in PTC Creo Parametric (Student Edition) and when I try to import the file into a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software the FEA software fails to open CAD file and shows 'Failed to load input file'. What is the reason of this? Is it because I am using Creo Student Edition?

Hello everyone, I have resolved the problem by saving CAD file as a parasolid file. Marc imported parasolid file without any problem.
What FEA software are you using? Does it typically import Creo files? Is the creo file version newer than the acceptable versions the FEA software will accept?
For PTC products, student versions of files are NOT COMPATIBLE with the commercial versions of the software. Its possible the FEA software knows it can't accept the student version. Have you or other students had success with this FEA software and Creo student files?
Can you export of step file or other export type file from Creo to use within the FEA software?
I have tried step file but it fails to import as well. I am using PTC Creo 7 Student Edition and Marc-Mentat 2020 (FEA). Marc-Mentat 2020 has a list of selection for CAD softwares and when I select Pro/ENGINEER my part becomes visible (selectable) and then I select the part but Marc fails to load it. I am the only one who is trying this.
My guess is that your version does not support Creo 7. The menu won't know your file version, only the software will when it goes to load it and will see the version ID.
Check with your FEA vendor for a detailed list of Creo versions they support.

Hi,
Also you should read FEA detailed specification.
Try exporting the data from Creo in STEP format and then open in the FEA program.
