Flatten-Quilt Deformation

When you from a solid around a previously flattened quilt using the Flatten-Quilt Deformation, what is the best way to account for the "lost volume/mass" which occurs from the deformation process? In other words, when you form a part in real life, the material doesn't get "lost" in the transformation like it does in the software deformation. So my issue is I cant accurately calculate the final weights and COG of these models in the software because it has "shrank" the material during the deformation feature.

Any ideas around this?
