Ghost of parts past

Users,

I am currently bring a large assembly into Windchill 10.0 using Creo 1.0. While importing the asm, prt and drw files that I need into workpace I have also brought along a number of part files not part of the assembly (but seem to have non obvious external relations to things in the assembly) and several ghost file. Whar is the current best practice for dealing with these? The "Auto resolve incomplete objects" option at check in seems to succeed in not creating ghost objects in common space, but those objects seem to pop up again when the object is opened in a new work space. Is there a way to forever kill ghost objects?

Thanks
Chris

Would be great if someone had a "ghost files for dummies" document.

I have recently used PTC Document - CS28858 with good success.
Title: How to remove legacy, invalid, default references in drawings or
layouts or models in a linked session with Windchill. I assume you have
support, so see that doc on the ptc website, too much detail to post
here.
*Also refer to CS20956 for detail regarding Cause and Resolution of
Incomplete, Ghost objects or Placeholder Documents when using Creo
Elements Pro with Windchill PDMLink

Here are our Best Practice Guides (BPG) that we use when we are haunted...

Start with Removing Ghosts, then on to either models or drawings depending on the ghost haunting you.

I would love to get people's feedback, I am sure that they could use improvement. They were written for Wildfire 5.0 and Windchill 9.1 so there may be some differences because of that.

Marc's files helped bust most of the ghost. Thanks to all who replied.
