Global parameter

Hi, I want to control the whole assembly by only one parameter i.e by changing the diameter value of the part in assembly. Is the above possible and if yes, how? Vishal

Vishal, The quick answer is Yes. The details depend on what you mean by "control." There are many tools and methods in ProE for doing this. You can use Layouts to which your parts and assembies are Declared. You can use Pro/PROGRAM and add in lines of conditional and dependent logic to control the Assembly itself and Components belonging to it. You can specifically layout the variations in a Family Table, as well. If you are not familiar with these techniques you need to do some reading and/or take an appropriate training course. Perhaps the simplest way of doing this is to write various Relations that cause subsidiary parameters and dimensions to appropriately change dependent on one upper level parameter. You mentioned changing the diameter of a part and having other things update. You might find it more useful to put a parameter value in the assembly and change that instead. (You can set the part diameter equal to that assembly parameter with a Relation.) David

David, That's great. I am not aware of layouts. Could i get some help or information regarding this. Regards Vishal

In the Help files go to Assembly/Configuring Assemblies/Layouts to get some overview information. An Advanced Assembly training class may give you the best hands-on insights into this functionality. Please note that you may or may not have this capability. It requires the Pro/NOTEBOOK module that comes with the Advanced Assembly Extension ("AAX").
