HELP using pro/mold

HELP using pro/mold

Hello proe users....

anybody out there using pro/mold to design injection and blow molds??

I need help with this module to create the parting line using the silhouette method.

The part is quite complicated.

I don't use pro/mold but you can make a silhouette mold parting line by putting your part in an assembly with your mold part and then using Edit > Component Operations > Cut Out

Pick your mold part as the cut out and the part as the reference and it looks pretty good!

I use the TDO (Tool design option) for forgings / castings and
silhouette curves are a neat feature.



Sometimes Pro may show several edges or loops that are recognized for
the silhouette, especially if the part has no draft in these areas.
Most of the time, you can then select the 'TOP' or the 'Bottom' curves
to use in an area.



Several other things may mess this up:



Use absolute accuracy

For parts / molds approx 12" x 18" x 12", the absolute accuracy should
be .0001"

Avoid geometry checks

Undercuts. Make sure you have draft all over. Use the draft check
measurements.
