Hi all,

 

I am wondering if this is a bug, or just another missing feature. A range of the products we design include a cavity into which a series of modules are placed. I am working on ETO orders, so each one can be set-up differently, but the modules are all placed to a particular reference. Currently when I insert a pattern of modules, I am able to make a linear pattern of 7 (the max for the unit) and hide/disable/exclude any particular members. If I want to include a blanking module, I then have to align it to the last in the pattern. If I then revisit the model and want to create a variation with a different module set-up, I have to re-align the blanking module to the last module.

 

If I were able to set up both the modules and the blanks up as patterns of 7 (max for the unit) starting from the same point, I could use the nodes to exclude and include as required, rather than having to constantly re-align the blanks. The original member cannot be excluded from the pattern however, so I would always have to have a module and a blanking module present in the first module's space. Is there any way to achieve this sort of set-up, where I can get rid of the initial blanking module? I know I could employ a simp rep to hide out the components, but not everyone in my team likes using the simp reps I have set up. Is there a reason the initial member of a pattern can't be excluded?

You cannot exclude the lead member of a pattern. it is not a bug.

 

If you can provide some detail on the nature of the alignment you are trying to create (pictures/models) that may lead to an alternative approach.
