Hide sketches from drawings

I need to hide sketches shown in drawing views (sketches not quilts).

I do hide it every time I open the drawing file, so I need a permanent solution.

Mahmoud

Hi,

Done all steps in the last reply, but when I hide the layer including the sketches, they are still visible.

Kindly find the part in the attachments with the pictures.

Hi,

I do not have Creo 4.0 M150 installed, therefore I use Creo 7.0.5.0.

There are 2 problems related to your SKETCHES layer.

1.] The layer is empty, because you did not set its properties well. Please select Associative property.

2.] The layer is not hidden.

Select layer, RMB > Hide, RMB > Save Status, save part.

You might want to check this setting: autohide_external_sketch

Yes is default - Automatically hides a sketch feature after it is used as the external sketch for a sketch based feature.

In drawings all visible sketches are shown.

The sketches I have are all external ones.

Hi,

please upload your model and explain what is external sketch. If you do this anyone can open the model and give you an advice how to hide  external sketch.

Hello,

EXTERNAL sketches are created before the feature, INTERNAL sketches are created inside the feature.
As the image shows the sketches, I'm talking about are EXTERNAL and the option autohide_external_sketch doesn't work for them, and I can't manage to include them all in one rule.
Unfortunately, I can't upload the file as it has confidential data.

Mahmoud

Hi,

1.] if you cannot upload real model then (I think) you can create test model and upload it

2.] I tested autohide_external_sketch yes in Creo 7.0.5.0 and it works well ... however, the Sketch feature is hidden only when it is used when creating another feature (eg. Extrude)

3.] as @tbraxton told you, you have to create rule based layer and hide it ... in this case every Sketch feature is automatically included into this layer and hidden

The sketches I have are all external ones. So the autohide_external_sketch option doesn't work with me.

Couple of options:

1. In the model, hide the sketches and then switch to the layer tree and use "save status".

2. In the model, put the sketches on a layer. Then, in the drawing, go to the layer tree and hide that layer, then use "save status".

"save status" is the function that will keep things you set to hidden.

Assuming you are asking about sketched curves. The most robust approach is to put the curves (sketches) on a layer. In drawing mode set this layer display to hidden.

Is there a role to include all EXTERNAL sketches in one layer?

You can create rules for layers to include features when they are created. This should work for you r requirements. by adding sketched curves to a layer(s).
