I was wondering if someone can help. I'm trying to build this object for uni and I do not know where to start!
How do you get a circular shape on the side of a cylinder? I've used the revolve tool to build the cylinder but have no idea how to put attachments on it.
Ive attached the drawing we have to go by...
Thanks in advance for any help!
Lots of ways. you can use another revolve, or you can extrude the cylinder from the center out or you can create an offset plane on the outside and extrude it in.
Most people would probably just do another revolve. The center line can be horizontal dimensioned from the top opening (70) to match the print.
Thanks for this - I created a new plane and went from there. Will try the revolve next time though!
You might try making the outside of the part and later revolve/cut the inside cavity.
Often I find managing the cavity in cylindrical parts directly with only one revolve is more trouble that it is worth.
Note: You can use silhouette edges of previously defined features as a reference inside a sketch. For me, this is a last resort as silhouette references tend to get lost quickly in model revisions.
Thanks for your help - I got there eventually!
