I typically do a simple screen capture so I get exactly what is on the screen.

You can also set the rendering options to output PNG but I am finding that this doesn't work for some reason.

For render images, you might want to output a different format (TIFF is recommended by most) and converting it to PNG in another program.

Now I have to figure out, or CS has to figure out why PNG is not working.

Antonius is write! Using a print screen is the easiest way to snapshot the screen. Another method I use is to use a capture/editing software called SnagIt from TechSmith. This software is on of the coolest graphics capture/editing software's I've seen. Very simple to use, and very intuitive, unlike ProE, Wildfire, Creo, . . . . . .

Thank you both

I also want to recommend a tiny software called Greenshot. It´s very similar to SnagIt but it´s freeware.

When you hit the "print screen" key you can define a area to capture and then you have a lot of options available:

green.png

By default it saves in the PNG format like you are looking for.

The image editor has good tools like editable text boxes and arrows. Highly recommendable.
