How to hide a common sub-assembly in one component but keep visible in another?

I need some help with WF4. How do you hide a common import feature in on component / sub-assembly of an assembly, but keep it visible in another component of the same component / sub-assembly? I am able to hide them individualy, but doing that 500+ times within a pattern is not the best use of engineering labor.

I was able to accomplish this by a search in the sub-assembly I wanted to hide the feature and save the query (Options button) with the propagate layer box un-checked. Be sure to save the layer status before saving the sub-assembly.
