Import .ai or .dxf as an sketch base

Hello,

I am trying to import our company logo into my sketch so that I can save it and reuse it or make a part (.prt) out of it. I have an .ai (adobe illustrator, not sure which version) and a .dxf which so far led to better results.

I read that there are ways to import an .dxf as an drawing base or whatever you choose in the software but I need it for an sketch. 

What I´ve tried so far:

import the .ai file (where I couldn´t see anything) - I can choose the file but can´t see the curves / lines / contours in Creo 6. After that I got an .dxf file which I imported in two ways:

- in a sketch via "file system"

- retrieving data which brought me the lines which I also can select but not make any profile out of it or use it for anything.

We live in 2020 - this can´t be that hard to use a simple three spelled logo...please help.

Problem solved - I don´t know exactly what I changed but it works now....maybe Creo listened and changed it itself...thanks anyways. I don´t know how to close or delete a topic so this one is officially closed and solved.

Marking your post as the answer is a good way to close a post. It's not really "closed" but it has a solution.

Ideally your post would include a description of what you did for the solution. We all understand that sometimes we don't know what we did to solve the problem but it seemed to work this time even though you could swear it's the same thing you tried before!

I would recommend that you have your graphics department create a true type font for the logo. This is superior to the import of dxf or other file types into a sketch. The font will maintain the aspect ratio and other geometry as it is scaled. The font will enable you to create text in sketch mode that will replicate the logo accurately and is easily scaled.

Depending on how the logo is created (printed, molded, embossed etc.) you may need to create multiple logos within the font. This is due to the process limitations among methods.

You will need to add the font to those available to Creo and it must be a .ttf font. Once the font is available you can use it an sketch mode.

Yes, we also thought about a font solution. Our marketing department can give me the font but I will ask whether it´s the font style .ttf

If so, can I just put the font into the folder: C:/programs/PTC/Creo 6.0.4.0/Common Files/text/Fonts ?

Because there are more than one folder where fonts are stored...

This is an example of the path for the Creo Parametric loadpoint directory. You must copy any new font to this directory in order for Creo to use it.

C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 4.0\M110\Common Files\text\fonts

There is also a config option to specify a font directory: pro_font_dir

If you do use a custom font and you share your files with other companies, they will not see the proper font on the drawing unless you give them a copy of the font with your files.

Try the BIMDeX plugins..I face exactly similar issues, and I use these plugins and they work perfectly.
