Is there a way to delete parts and assembly files that are no longer used?

Greetings,

I am working on an assembly where the Windows folder contains approximately 850 files (parts + assemblies). Over the course of the design's evolution and design lifecycle, different variations of designs were tried out and refined by either adding more parts or replacing others. Now that the design is near being finalized, I wish to trim down the folder to only have what is needed. When the BOM gets generated, I see out of the 850 files, approx. 120 of them are used. This means we have hundreds of orphaned files that are no longer be used and won't ever be used.

Please keep in mind, these files are NOT caused by Creo making a new copy every time you hit Save. I have FILE_SAVE_ITERATIONS as off.

Any advice?

No Windchill or other PLM system, so that makes this very simple.

Open your top most assembly and its drawing, if you have one.

Create a new folder in Windows for your now finished files.

Do A File-Save As-Backup to that new folder of your top level file.

All of the files used in that file will now be saved to the new clean folder.

I would hold on to the original folder for a few days to be sure everything loads properly.

If you use search paths, change them to your new folder and remove the old folder from the search list.
