I am using Creo Parametric Release 7.0 and Datecode7.0.10.0
We have encountered an issue when inserting UDFs into MBD-models in Creo.
The problem specifically concerns the loss or corruption of attached annotations and references defined within the UDF. The behavior we are seeing includes the following:
- Orientation of annotations is lost after insertion.
- Certain dimensions are suppressed and must be manually deleted and re-added.
- Geometric Tolerances (GeTols) are not updated correctly when references already exist in the target model:
- While dimensional references from the UDF are reassigned to existing model features, GeTols retain their original references from the UDF, resulting in inconsistencies.
Further details and visual examples of the issue are provided in the attached PDF.
This behavior is problematic for our downstream process chain, as we rely on consistent annotation data for:
- NC program generation (CAM)
- Automated creation of measurement programs
- CAQ and inspection plan generation
We have also tested this behavior using Creo 11 – unfortunately, no improvement could be observed.
Hi,
did you report the problem to PTC Support?
Just think from the top of my head : suspecting a legacy issue.
is that UDF created from 7 or earlier ?
By chance did you (re)create the UDF in 7 ?
Hi Remy,
we have created the UDFs in Creo 7 and also completely new in Creo 11 as a test, but nothing has changed in the behavior.
See this post:
I have raised this issue with the product managers @Mfridman at the PTC conference. No immediate changes are coming.
Also you should be aware that any text that is in the boxes next to a dimension gets translated to plain text. So if you have &d0 Counterbore &d1, the &d1 does not carry though with the newly created dimension, it comes through as text that says &d1
Not sure if this is the same issue or not.
Thanks for sharing your post, looks like exactly the same issue.
The tip "Move to layer" works well, that's good to know.
Hi @LuccaF
My name is Michael Fridman and I am the Product Manager for MBD in Creo.
I am very interested in this case, so if you can please open a Tech Support case, attached your UDF to the ticket and share the case number with me, I will be able to further review it with TS and R&D.
Thanks and best regards,
Michael
