Hello everyone,
I would like to ask if it is possible to have general sketch for all sweeps in model.
It will be great if sweep sections will be depended by main sketch. Any modification in main sketch will affect section geometry in all sweeps.
Till now I was using parameters for specific dimensions, but it is making model more complex.
Thank you in advance for answers.
Yes, you just have to make sure that each separate sweep ONLY uses the trajectory you want, not the entire sketch when you first pick the trajectory. Another reason I have always used "Query Select" to select things.
Hello Patriot,
Thank you for feedback, but I think I described my problem insufficiently.
I made simple example shown in attached screenshot.
Both sweep sections are circles. I would like to have main sweep section (sketch), every time when I will edit this 'main sweep section' both sweeps (sweep section) in tree will be updated automatically.
In example it is easy because we have only one dimension (diameter) which can be depended by parameter value and only two sweeps. In more complex model and cross sections parametrizing every dimension is not effective.
If every sweep trajectory is parallel at some point, you could create a master sketch, create the section at that parallel point and project the master curves into the section. Probably not that simple of a problem.
Have you tried creating parameters of the main section dimensions and create relations in the sketch to drive the relationship?
There are some options to control the sweep section sketch with a minimum of parameters or dimensions. If you can define the sketch with intelligent use of construction geometry and constraints it is possible to minimize the user interaction required to modify the sketch.
The sketch below is controlled by a single dimension (sd0), all other variables are defined in terms of sd0 so the user selects the value of sd0 and all other sketch dims are updated via sketch relations. This may be trivial compared to your section but provides an example of what can be done within a sketch.
Your description is open to interpretation. Are you asking if you can use one sketch to define the trajectory of all sweeps or use one sketch to define the section of all sweeps? The answer to either of these is maybe, it depends on the geometry you need in the design.
A more detailed description of your goal would be helpful.
