Making copy of assembly independent

How do I make it so that file I saved as copy of assembly doesn't change when I make changes in original assembly?

If you are changing parts in an assembly, you will have to make a copy of those parts also.

Maybe if you provide an example of your specific problem or screenshots, someone can help more.

Hi,

in case that the original assembly is "simple one" (I mean only a set of components assembled together), You have to force Creo to create new components. See pictures.

I am not touting this as a best practice (depends on what you are doing).

Assuming you are not running Creo linked with Windchill, you can just make a backup of the assembly in question (this will copy all files in session related to the assembly) to a different path location to save a copy. You would then erase everything from session, navigate to the path location of your newly copied files and work on the copy.

This also assumes that you do not have search paths in session that would retrieve any models related to the newly copied assembly.
