Mirrored Bodies feature will not update.

Mirrored Bodies feature will not update.

I am using Creo Parametric Release 7.0 and Datecode7.0.12.0

There is a "mirrored bodies id" feature in my part. When I updated the part it was referencing the mirrored part did not get updated. How can I edit this to fix it? There is not a "edit definition" when I click on the "mirrored bodies id" feature.

The feature in question is not a body mirror feature. The glyph seen in the model tree is a clue that the feature is not a body mirror function.

It appears that the "source" model (841931) was saved as mirror with settings to render it independent of the source. When this technique is used there is no link to the source model. There is nothing to redefine when this method is used to mirror a part. I have verified using the global reference viewer that this is the case with your model (841932), it has no external parents.

Post the models here for review/analysis.

Do you know why it would suppress the entire model when the "mirrored bodies" is suppressed? Is there a way to remove that feature without messing up the other features?

The entire model is suppressed because all geometry in the model is dependent on the mirror. You can see this in the feature information window. Note all of the feature Ids are merged during the save as mirror operation. Also note that the feature type is merged by copying which is different from mirror body. I do not see any way to remove the feature from the model as you want to. You are best served by going back to the source model and creating a mirror model in a manner that supports your design intent. You may be able to copy/paste the work you would lose in the current model with the issue into a new mirror part model that is dependent on the source (master) model as you intend to have this new model dependent on changes to the master model.

Hi @AJ_11353395,

As @tbraxton mentioned, this part is created from the base part as File > Save As > Mirror Part using "Geometry with Features" option where it does not retain any dependency with the original part.

Regards,

Amol Lungare

I don't know what your design intent is, but I would suggest using an inheritance feature, mirror the body, and remove the original body.

Read through this entire thread. There is information here on how to drive mirrored parts from a single master model. The same approach may work for your scenario as well.
