Open and solidworks file and embed childparts.

Hi, I'm using Creo 11. I wish to know if it is possible to directly open a solidworks sldasm file and use the inseparable assembly/embed function so that I can keep all the data/childparts so that when I upload to windchill I only have the one assembly.

According to this article https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS352914 it is supported.

Its says it is possible. But is not working. See process I follow and the issue where embed is greyed out.

right, so.
The SW import was successful and you need to embed some components (not all?) in an inseparable seembly.

In Data Exchange, you need to judge by the file so I recommend you get in touch with our Support Desk, file a case, attach your SW file, profile and template.

Had a look to this video from the brilliant Creo Parametric channel : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOqBdz6gSVg

where is goes thourgh the process from Import to Embedding.
One notable thing is that Embed is available when Sub-components are selected.
Can you confirm this is what you select in your blurred out screenshot ?

Right.
I replicated the issue with Creo 11.0

the behavior is different than that off an assembly created in Creo from scratch.
File a case and if not me, our team will assist you.

If you also have SolidWorks, I wouldn't even bother with Creo lol
