Opening an NX step file with multiple (.) periods in file name Creo View 4

Good Morning,  I am having problems opening files I used to open in Creo View 3.1.   These are files created out of NX and have multiple periods in the file name Example: 23428886.geo_fin001.002999.stp 

For a work around I can change the extra periods to underscores and most files work but not all.   Has anyone else experienced this since upgrading to WC 11 and Creo 4?

Tested couple of step files from NX with multiple periods in Creo View 4.0, it worked well.

The file ended up being weld points,  Which are just points.  Trying to figure how to configure my Step recipe file so Creo will import points.
