PDF Fonts - TrueType or Stroked?

Hello All,

I'm pondering more about my PDF file output. In my Pro/E drawing, my text
looks grand. I print my file to a PDF and choose "TrueType fonts." This
results in the PDF's text no longer having the same size, or spacing, or ?
as the original drawing. Some text that fits nicely in the titleblock now
runs over the boarder(cell). And my drawing notes are not lined up nice
and crisp, starting from the left. They appear a bit ragged, as though
each space and character is not a uniform width.

Is there a way to get a more precise "what you see is what you get" output
via this method? Or, is it better to simply choose the "Stroked" font when
I generate the PDF? Which font do you chose and why?

I welcome all feedback.

Cheers,

-Lar

Hi Lar,

I had the same problem when I configured my PDF export.

It seems to be due toAcrobat distiller not recognising the defaultProE font 'font3d',

so it replaces it with a font that has slightly different spacing / formatting.

I decided to use the Arial True Typefont as it looks clean and crisp.

Here's what I did to resolve the problem:

I set the following options inmy config.pro fil

PRO_FONT_DIR C:\WINDOWS\Fonts

DEFAULT_FONT Arial

Then I edited the properties ofmy existing drawing formats, drawing templates required drawings,

setting the font to Arial.

I had toeditthe text style of drawing tables (eg. Title block) setting the font to Arial.

I also set the font to Arial in my drawing setup file (.dtl)

Once I madethe changes, the textinPDF's was exactlythe same as the text displayed in ProE.

Hope this helps

Colin
