I NEED HELP TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THESE CIRCLES ARE ON THE SKETCH LINES. EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD, CLOSED LOOP AND COMPLETE CLOSED LOOP PROJECTION OF THE SKETCH LINES
I AM TRYING TO PROJECT A SKETCH TO OFFSET A CURVED SURFACE, AND AN ODD SURFACE (SEE PICTURES). THESE ARE THE STEPS I'VE TAKEN:
* SKETCH
* PROJECT SKETCH (I ENSURED ALL PARTS OF THE PROJECTION WERE CONNECTED, AND ON ALL SURFACE(S) OF THE PROJECTION)
* SKETCH-PROJECT SKETCH (SKETCH SHOWS IT IS A COMPLETE LOOP(S))
* OFFSET- EXPAND (SELECTED ALL SURFACES)
NOTHING, I CANNOT GET EITHER A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE EXPANSION (OFFSET ABORTED; GEOMETRY COULD NOT BE CONSTRUCTED)
I DO NOT SEE THESE CIRCLES IN THE ORIGINAL SKETCH
THE GREEN OUTLINE IS ONE AREA TO PROJECT TO FOR AN OFFSET, AND THE ORANGE AREA IS ANOTHER
YOUR HELP IS APPRECIATED

I SORT OF FIGURED IT OUT. THE ENCIRCULED VERTICES IS AN INDICATION OF INSUFICIENT CONSTRAINT. CREO DOESN'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO WITH THE A JOINING LINES. IT IS EITHER NEEDING A COINCIDENT RESTRAINT, OR A DEFINED ANGLE (STRONG DIMENTION). IT DOESN'T GIVE YOU MUCH IF ANY EXPLAINATION OTHER THAN THE CONNECTION IS NOT EXACTLY TANGENT OR OVER DIMENSIONED...NO HELP WHATSOEVER. FOR ME, ANY ERROR MESSAGE PROVIDED DID NOT ISOLATE THE LOCATION (VERTICES IN THIS CASE) AT ALL. THE SOLUTION WAS ALL TRIAL AND ERROR.
SOME OF THE OTHER PROBLEMS I ENCOUNTERED WITH THE OFFSET FEATURE I ALSO RESOLVED. AGAIN, I'M NOT SURE WHY OR EXACTLY WHAT DIFFERENCE IT MAKES. WITH MY SKETCH, I HAD A COUPLE OF VERTICES WHICH WERE CLOSE TO AN EDGE (LIKE A 90 DEG JOINT), NOT ON THE EDGE BUT CLOSE. BY MOVING THEM MORE AWAY FROM THE EDGE TO MORE ON THE FLAT SURFACE, THE OFFSET FEATURE WOULD WORK. I COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT DIFFERENCE IT MADE WHERE I INITIALLY PLACED THE VERTICES, BUT THE A SLIGHT LOCATION MOVE FIXED IT.
SO, I SIMPLY MOVED THE POINTS TO CHANGE THE ANGLE, IT FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR ME...BUT THIS IS MOST LIKELY NOT THE EXACT ANSWER OR SOLUTION. IT WOULD BE NICE IF CREO GAVE A DIFINITIVE EXPLANATION OF WHAT IS WRONG RATHER THAN A CANNED NO HELP AT ALL MESSAGE. I CAN'T EXPRESS THE "HOURS!" I HAVE TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT.
THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR RESPONSE.
What version of Creo? Post the model here for review. Troubleshooting from pictures is not ideal for reviewing this problem. The surface topology as well as the curve properties are critical to troubleshooting this type of issue.
I USE 10, YOU SAID YOU ONLY HAVE 8? SINCE I POSTED THIS, I WAS ABLE TO GET A COUPLE TO WORK. STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON. LET ME KEEP TRYING.
Others will have access to 10.
