Part's datum cannot be shown in the assembly

Part's datum cannot be shown in the assembly

Hi, I am using Creo 9 and got this problem in an assembly environment.

When I assembled a part to a sub-assembly and I encountered this problem that all the datum of the part cannot be seen. From the model tree, I could see the datum (layers, axis and DTM_csys) are grayed. But when I  chose a grayed datum (such a plane) and checked its information and found its status is "shown".

Similar problem occurred to another part created in the assembly environment, I could not see its "Axis". Though its planes are shown.

Appreciate it if anyone can help me.

Hi,

Please see the attachment.

I can see and manipulate the datum planes of LRG6SP.PRT in ASM0001 (main assembly) but not in ASM0002 (sub-assembly). LRG6SP.PRT is created separately and assembled into ASM0002. Axis of revolving features cannot be seen in both assembly. PRT0001 & PRT0002 are created in the ASM0001 and ASM0002 respectively.

Hi,

open part in separate window, select item greyed in model tree and apply Show command from minitoolbar.

Thank you for the help. Actually all the datum are shown in a part environment. I can hide/unhide with the plane display. but in the assembly, the datum are grayed.

below is the part model tree. you can see all the plane are shown and have no problem.

Hi,

Martin Hanák

Hi Martin, please see below model tree and layer tree. thanks.

It appears that you have some of the part datums layered off. Select all of the layers and then right click and click "show" from the context menu

Thanks to all the helps.

please see the attached mp4.

All of the grayed datum cannot be switch on because no "show" tab in the smalltoolbar. And, the problem happens only in the sub-assembly but not in the main-assembly. In the main-assembly, all datum are not grayed and can be "show/hide".

Hi,

1.] Please do not put video inside the text. Add it as attachment.

2.] I am sure that video does not enable me to explain your problem. Please pack all your data into single zip file and attach this zip file to you next reply.

Martin Hanák

hope this round the video will works.

Now I encountered problems on starting my Creo 9 so I cannot make more screenshots for you. Basically, the problem is that I can show/hide the datum (planes and axis) in a part level, or in the main-assembly level, but not in the sub-assembly level. I used a top-down design created main assembly->sub assembly -> part. The weird things is that, not all the datum of all the parts not be shown in the sub-assembly. Some parts show only plane, or axis, some show none.

I tried many ways tried to locate the show/hide tab but did not find it. I guess it might be a bug or something. Since I can see the datum in the main assembly, I will work in the main assembly level only.

Thanks for the helps.

Hi,

Please pack all your data into single zip file and attach this zip file to you next reply.

If you provide your data (saved in commercial Creo session) I will be able to check them and experiment with them.

It does not make any sense to send another pictures/videos.
