I have a question regarding assembly, with particular mentions to projection and cut-outs. What is the method of projecting edges/faces onto another surface (ie. the chassis), and then the method of cutting out that projection?
Perhaps I'm not reading the Getting Started guide correctly... Would anybody be able to point me in the right direction?

You make your sketch, then you can project it by going to the Edit menu then project. You just pick the surface you want to project on. Then you can trim by slecting the quilt then edit, trim & select your prjected sketch then you can pick what part of the surface you want to keep or remove..

My apologies Mike, I had misread your original reply... I am actually looking to project an edge/face onto another plane while still in sketch mode. (From here, I would then use the cut out feature.)
Does that make more sense?
I understand what you want to do but I don't know if this is possible. I don't know how to do it this way & I don't think I would even if it was possible. I like having the independent feature in the model tree. You can adjust your sketch & regenerate your model to get it to do what you want.

Are you just trying to cut an opening in a chassis that matches geometry from other parts? If so, you may be complicating things more than necessary. You can either (1) create an assembly feature that cuts only the chassis, or (2) Activate the chassis part while in assembly and create a cut in the chassis. In either case you will be creating a so-called Dependency on the other part or parts. It is not necessary to "project" anything; just sketch on the surface of the chassis and use the edges of the existing geometry (Use Edge) in your sketch. When you are more familiar with the software you may find it preferable to use more advance techniques like Skeletons and Copy and Publish Geometry to do this sort of thing; these techniques are cleaner from a dependency standpoint.
