Hello,
My knowledge about edge-edge, edge-face links for shell-solid connection is probably outdated.
Does anyone remember the old technique of 'painting' a thin layer of shells onto a solid surface to eliminate the need for links where shells meet solids? The 'painted on' shells meet the shells instead.
The surface I want to create the shells onto is created by a volume region. I know this method worked before (Wildfire) but haven't had the need to use it for a while. The addition of a few shells versus the cost of links.
Links used to be considered 'expensive' and impacted analysis time. Is this still the case? Is this technique still relevant?
Why are the links reported as edge-face when clearly they are edge-edge?
Thanks
Hi,
'painting' on shells is not for MECHANICA (P-Elements), but for H-Elements (bending moment connection).
links are OK, but inaccurate.
I use rigid links for shell-solid connection (example attached).
