Rolled Threads and Cut Threads in IFX tables

Any suggestions on how to incorporate rolled threads and cut threads into IFX hole tables?

Hi Kelly,

do you already have hole charts for this type of threads?

How do you create rolled thread with Creo at the moment?

We use the default hole charts for our threaded holes.  When a rolled threaded is identified, the desired diameter for the drill size is changed in order for the CAM software to choose the correct tooling (drill and tap).

Hi Kelly,

some background information on IFX:

  1. IFX use the fastener diameter and the pitch to get the hole chart.
So if you select e.g. a M10x1.5 IFX search for the first hole chart where the BASIC_DIAM is 10.0 and the THREAD is 1.5.
  2. The options SCR_THREAD_SERIES_COUNTERBORE, SCR_THREAD_SERIES_COUNTERSINK, and so on control which hole chart should be used for the hole type CONTERBORE, COUNTERSINK and so on.

What you can do is to use the THREAD value to control which hole chart should be taken. But of course you need different hole charts for threaded and rolled threads.

Questions:

  • Do you have different hole charts?
  • Who decides if a thread is rolled or threaded?
    • The fastener itself?
    • The engineer?
    • The material?
