In assembly mode model, there is a shrinkwrap function available.
Goal is make a light weight representation of the assembly.
This feature is added as assemblyfeature to the modeltree.
But the question is, what can you do with it?
It is not possible to export, or open it separatly.
So, I was wondering how to use this?
You can make a simplified rep with a shrinkwrap of a subassembly or part. You can also create a new part and create a shrinkwrap within it of a subassembly or part (and then you can export it and open it separately).
we use it for STEP file creation - so that the entire assembly becomes a single part.
Then just create a new part, create a shrinkwrap, and select the assembly from file that you want to shrinkwrap.
It's extremely useful in routed systems (e.g., cabling) when you want to grab all the references along or through which you want to route cables, without having to create a number of Copy Geom features. However, I typically create them in Skeletons, not at the assembly level.
BBusschers,
I created this video that might help explain how Shrinkwrap features are used in Top Down Design to assist with modeling.
I hope it helps. Feel free to reach out to me with any other questions.
