This is a simple cosmetic pivot design. The model is a 1/2" cylinder ~1" long using 1/8" flange bearings.
Uses for this arrangement include free-moving wind sculptures or pivots in compact mechanisms where size and robustness matter.
The holes in the side are intended for brazing or soldering 5/16" OD brass or copper tubing to the cylinders. Of course, this is just one application as these features are simply placeholders.
The design is intended to be robust and scalable. With care and orientation considerations as well as choice of materials, this design can also be reasonably weatherproof.
Attached you will find the Creo 2.0 files as well as a Step file for previous versions.
Thanks go to Boca Bearings and McMaster-Carr for providing useful data files. Their files were used as reference to generate the included files from scratch.
As always, these are my designs and are free to use as you wish.
Enjoy!
