I'm exploring using Styles to provide simplified views of large welded sheet metal assemblies. (Eg, hide a chunk of components to show an earlier stage of assembly process, make some transparent for clarity). I'm also exploring modelling welds. Currently I have a lot of floating midair solid welds when I Blank components in different Styles.
Surface welds interact as expected with Blank/Unblank, but solid welds stay visible when Blanked through the design tree or view window. (They then have the option to Unblank when selected even though they're still visible.) Checking View Manager -> Style -> Properties, they're not listed. However, if I change the display style of solid welds (eg make them transparent) they ARE listed and I can Blank them from the Properties window, which works.
I know I could just use surface welds, but I would like to have the capacity to use solid welds without this workaround. Is there something I'm missing that explains why they won't just Blank?
Alternately, is there another toolset that conveniently lets me hide different selections of components (including welds) and store them for easy use in drawings? I haven't used Layers much but would they be a better fit?
Using Creo 9.0.3.0
Looks this is fixed in Creo Parametric 9.0.10.0.
