Stress analysis simulation on welded parts

Hi

1. can i do a static stress analysis simulation on 2 wlded parts (i have added the welding feature with the "application" module out of the understanding that maybe this is the only way CREO can do the simulation)

- if not, what is the best way to do it ?

I guess it depends:

  • If the welds are the critical area to look at, it is probably best to model them as solid geometry (in worst case as an extra part)
  • If they are not in the critical area, they can be omitted (as long as the parts somehow touch to get merged / connected together, so that the topology is correct)

As of Creo 4.0 you can create a solid weld, this behaves better in Simulate than the surface welds.
