1) I have had graphics problems (we use NVIDIA cards) caused by Microsoft's SMS drivers. Check for the driver under display adapters in the device manager. If it is there, try disabling it and see if that solves your problem. We had two out of 9 identical machines exhibit unstable behavior due to this issue. Win32_gdi fixed the issue for me too, but performance was awful. Took me 6 months to track it down. Worth a shot anyway
2) Are you launching ProE from Intralink? If so, then try changing the launch command for ProE in Intralink to ex: d:\ptc\proe2001\bin\proe2001.bat -g opengl
3) My guess is that it is an XP SP2 issue. I had the same issue with a FireGL Z1 when I upgraded our boxes to SP2. All of the firegl's use a unified driver, so I suspect it's the same issue. The link to the driver that supports SP2 is below: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/firegl/firegl-unified-xp-w2k-8062.exe
4) May want to check the OpenGL graphics settings in the driver for the video card. (Properties [from screen right click], settings, advanced and see if there is a tab / setting area in the utility for OpenGL settings). Often they will have a pre-set you can select so that the OpenGL is optimized for a specific application. I know Nvidia graphics card drivers often have this (pre-sets for ProEngineer, ProE Wildfire, Solidworks, analysis apps...etc.) and think some ATI cards might, too.
5) I assume you found nothing of value in the error log files? Do the other systems have the same OS and service pack? See if you have any options for CAD type settings. I have seen this type of action here with ATI cards and NVIDIA cards where systems are the same type setups, but one or two act up like this. We did total rebuilds of the pc's and the problem went away, doesn't tell you what the issue is/was, but it did fix it. This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team.
