I have a plate with a laser cut section which is twisted perpendicular to the plate to form a grate as shown in the attached screenshot. This feature is formed by creating a twist feature on either side of the cutout, then connecting the two sides with an extrusion (I am using Creo 2.0).
Everything seems to work fine until I got to create an unbend feature. Creo will show the flatten state, but it will not create the feature. The error message given is "The feature creation failed because the geometry could not be constructed", but it does not indicate where the failure occurs. I have tried modifying the twist and section shape, but this doesn't help. The only way I am able to get the unbend feature to generate is to suppress the extrude between the two twist features.
Does anyone know how to make the unbend feature work? Should I form this feature using a different method?
If you can create the twist geometry using the twist wall functionality in sheet metal mode it should flatten. The twist wall is under the shapes drop down menu in sheet metal mode.
